"Pufferfish has been amazing for my boys' swimming skills. Their comfort in the water and swim skills has increased greatly The one-on-one practice has allowed the instructors to work with each of my boys, at their swim level and work through each new level with encouragement and confidence. They know how to challenge my boys to try the next lesson, like treading water. The instructors are kind, knowledgeable and understanding. They will work with your child, at their level. The lessons help my boys focus because there are only a few children at anytime. Pufferfish has given my boys confidence in swimming anywhere!"

“The puffer fish program has been great for L. It is exactly what we were looking for! We have had some trouble in the past in other programs with instructors who were insensitive and showed little to no understanding of his special needs, though I was told that all of their instructors had an understanding of it and were prepared to work with an autistic child. As a result of the individualized attention in the puffer fish program L is moving forward and loving swimming lessons again. I love that we are able to focus the lessons to suit his individual needs and we can work at his pace keeping it fun for him. I know group lessons would be a struggle for him as he would need to keep up with the group which could involve too much time on exercises he is uncomfortable with and he may get discouraged. Right now he is loving working on learning to dive! I like that the report cards are positive and encouraging for him, helping in keeping him motivated and feeling successful knowing his efforts are acknowledged and appreciated. Other programs have left him feeling like he wasn't trying hard enough or was misbehaving while he's really just struggling to overcome sensory issues and fears with water. Now he is pushing those former limits.....he now enjoys swimming in deep water and handles his head fully submerged....he dives for objects on the bottom (something he used to really struggle just to attempt). I like that we can include fun things that he personally enjoys in each lesson (playing with the basket ball net or doing somersaults) positive reinforcement and rewards have always worked best for him. L has been comfortable with his instructors in the puffer fish program as they have shown him kindness, patience, understanding and encouragement maintaining a positive environment he feels safe in.”
